汪揚教授 Professor Yang Wang, BS, MS, PhD
Prof Yang Wang took office as Vice-President for Institutional Advancement of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology on 1 October 2020. He joined the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology as the Head of the Department of Mathematics in 2014 and he became the Dean of the School of Science in 2016.
Prof Wang is an internationally respected scholar with wide-ranging research interests, having published over 100 research journal papers in both pure and interdisciplinary mathematics. During his tenure as Dean of Science, Prof Wang founded the HKUST Big Data Institute and launched the popular Big Data Technology MSc program.
Prof Wang received his bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of Science and Technology of China, and his Ph.D. degree from Harvard University. He was a faculty member of the Georgia Institute of Technology, before becoming the Department Chair of Mathematics at Michigan State University.

Non-executive Director on 18 May 2005. He is currently the Chairman of David H T Lan Consultants Ltd.
He is also an Independent Non-executive Director of CK Infrastructure Holdings Limited and ARA Asset Management (Prosperity) Limited,the manager of the Prosperity Real Estate Investment Trust and holds directorships at Nanyang Commercial Bank Ltd. and other companies, as well as a Senior Advisor of Mitsui & Co. (H.K.) Ltd.
Mr. Lan was the Secretary for Home Affairs of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government till his retirementin July 2000. He had served as civil servant in various capacities for 39 years.
He was awarded the Gold Bauhinia Star Medal (GBS) on 1 July 2000.
In January 2003, he was appointed National Committee Member of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, the People’s Republic of China.
Mr. Lan is a Chartered Secretary and a fellow member of The Hong Kong Institute of Chartered Secretaries and The Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators.
He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Law from the University of London and completed the Advanced Management Program (AMP) of the Harvard Business School, Boston.

Dr. Liao was a former investment banker from 2003 to 2013 specific in Investor Relations, she participated in various outstanding State-Owned Enterprise (SOE) in HKEX Initial Public offer and organized the global roadshow in Southeast Asia Region.
Afterward, Dr. Liao joined the international finance group in the position of chief advisor for labor localization together with the local governor in Western Africa and Southeast Asia. Then Dr. Liao changed her position as the chief advisor to service the families’ basic Multi-National Corporate (MNC) in compliance with ethical management to sustain the business development in Western Africa and Southeast Asia Region while corporate globalization.
